Stanton is located in western Orange County with a population of about 37,400. Its most notable features are the Adventure City park and Hobby City, which are located in its city limits. It consists of many townhomes and small residential units built prior to 1960. In fact, since 1975, only 99 new residential units have been built within the city's limits.
Traveling between Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm via Orange County Transportation Authority buses requires a transfer at the intersection of Katella Avenue and Beach Boulevard, which is located in Stanton.

In recent years Stanton, now three square miles with over 32,984 residents, has experienced rapid growth in the commercial, industrial and residential sectors, creating a balanced community, with a deep sense of pride in its accomplishments.
The Stanton Redevelopment Agency has been extremely successful in improving the quality of life in the City through revitalization of its commercial and residential areas. Through public-private partnerships, major new developments have been attracted which promise to sustain the City for years to come. |

Fire protection in Stanton is provided by the Orange County Fire Authority with ambulance transport by Care Ambulance Service. The Orange County Sheriff's Department provides law enforcement;originally, Stanton has had its own police department since the city's incorporation in 1956, but union strike citing poor working conditions resulted in its disbanding in 1988.
